"I delivered the produce to CAC in Lakeville. When I arrived, there was a family receiving assistance and they were very excited to have fresh produce. A teenage girl laughed her head off when she saw some of the cucumbers (which were about 20 inches long). It was more fun than I have had in a very long time!" Cyndi, garden volunteer

"Today I dropped another batch of vegetables at the Lakeville CAC building. Just after I handed the produce over to be brought down to the food shelf area, a woman, accompanied by three little children, asked me excitedly, "Were those fresh radishes?" I told her they were and she expressed regret that because she had already received her food, she was unable to have fresh radishes. I offered to try to get some back for her and she declined, saying "That's okay, but thanks. It's just so rare that we get fresh vegetables now." Hearing this, someone at CAC did go down and get her green beans, radishes and a green pepper from our batch. She was so grateful and pleased that she and her kids may come help at the Project FoodPatch garden and take some produce home with them."

"We brought the first pint of raspberries and the first bunches of radishes to CAC today and can see much more to come. We were able to give that produce directly to a person in need who declared them a "real treat" for her and in her gratitude insisted on reciprocating by giving a pair of used flip flops she had in her bag to our little Henry. It was a heartwarming and dignified exchange." Liz, garden volunteer

"I would like to share a little about an amazing person and skilled professional I met today... One of our volunteers, Wendy, contacted Paul Danner, a connection through her kids' school, and asked if he would consider helping out with our water issue at the garden.

Paul Danner contacted me the next day and we met at the garden so he could evaluate the problem. The plumbing issue is huge and probably insurmountable at this time but Paul investigated, replaced the outside house connection (after being saturated by water springing from existing leaks) and donated over 500 feet of house which he hooked up to the house and nozzled at a connecting point so that we can reach and water both gardens. He gave us not only his day and skill but also donated a lot of hose (we all know how expensive that is) and nozzles, and a new spiggot and nozzle.

Paul's attitude from beginning to end was "we can work this out." His assesment skill and willingness to get some very "messy" things done as well as his kindness and generosity are truly amazing. If any of you, or someone you know, needs a plumber now or in the future, please pass Paul's name and information along. I know we will be keeping it in a handy place for future use. Even on short acquaintance I can testify to his integrity, skill and professionalism. Paul did not ask for this recommendation but I am delighted to pass his information along to all of you.
